Taipei, Taiwan, Jan 15, 2006 ˇVˇV Advancing the performance of compact form factors, Protech Systems Co., Ltd., the leading industrial PC maker, is pleased to introduce the BPC-8931 low power and high performance POS PC featuring the power-saving VIA C7/ Eden CPU processor and VIA CN700 Northbridge + VT8237R Plus Southbridge chipset. The compact, 3.3 kg BPC-8931 supports higher level systems with up to 2GB of 400/533 DDR2 SDRAM single socket system memory. The high performance, low power BPC-8931 is ideally suited as a POS, kiosk, gaming machine, digital image storage server, or application server. Industrial grade durability ensures long product life and allows the BPC-8931 to be deployed in nearly any environment, from storage server to high traffic kiosk.
Flexible Expansion and Versatile Connectivity
Powered by a built-in 100V~240V, ATX 110W power supply, the BPC-8931 offers outstanding performance with the VIA C7 CPU. With performance of up to 2.0GHz with low power consumption and highly efficient heat dissipation, the VIA C7 CPU saves power while maintaining performance. With up to four COM ports (3 onboard and 1 optional via expansion card), up to 4 USB 2.0 ports (2 onboard and 2 optional via expansion card), one built-in cash drawer (RJ11) port and a Fast Ethernet-based RJ-45 port, the BPC-8931 offers strong peripheral support and connectivity. Configurable storage options include drive bays for 1 or 2 x 2.5" HDD or 1 x 3.5" HDD, satisfying most storage demands. One PCI slot is available as is an optional expansion slot bracket that provides the BPC-8931 with additional COM ports and USB 2.0 ports for I/O connectivity. Parallel (DB25), keyboard and mouse PS/2 ports complete the BPC-8931 I/O profile.
The BPC-8931 provides comprehensive video output support with VGA and DVI ports, enabling connection of numerous display types including flat panel LCD and CRT monitors. The onboard audio jack combined with dual monitor support make the BPC-8931 a suitable platform for gaming applications.

Protech offers the BPC-8931 in three configurations to meet customer needs: the BPC-8931-C7 POS PC with VIA C7 1.3GHz CPU and 3.5" HDD bracket, the BPC-8931-C7-S POS PC with VIA C7 1.3GHz CPU and 2.5" HDD/CD-ROM bracket and the BPC-8931-C7-S1 POS PC with VIA C7 1.3GHz CPU and 2 x 2.5" HDD bracket.
